The following information is designed to address Frequently Asked Questions about airport parking Stansted. Information on all of the individual car parking operators can be found on their respective pages in the Car Parks section of the website. For a comparison on their features please see the tables on the Long Stay, Short Stay and Meet and Greet pages.
I’ve never used a long stay car park before, what should I do on arrival?
If you have booked your parking in advance, many companies will require you to take a booking confirmation number along with you. Once you arrive at the parking facility pull up to the designated drop off area next to reception. After you have confirmed your arrival at reception, you will either be directed to an area to park your car or it will driven for you by one of the staff. Usually, a shuttle bus service will then take you and your luggage to and from the airport. Some car parks may require you to leave your keys at reception.
What is Meet and Greet Parking?
Meet and Greet parking is very popular at Stansted Airport. The customer drives straight to the terminal building where they are met by a car park representative. The representative then helps unload the bags and drives the car to a secure offsite parking compund. When you return your car will be waiting for you outside the terminal building. For more information see the Meet and Greet pages of the website. Detailed information on arrival and departure procedures can be found on the individual car park’s pages.
Do I need to pre-book?
Most car parks will have a day tariff, however it is usually much more cost effective to book in advance. As well as considerable savings, having a guaranteed parking facility is very comforting during the busy summer period.
Which car parks provide covered parking?
Covered parking is not readily available at Stansted Airport. SPS Indoor offer a Meet and Greet service and cars are parked within an indoor parking compound.
How can I decide between car parks?
The key to finding the right option for you is finding a balance between price and level of security. The price will depend on how long you will be using the facilities, so remember to look at the rates for longer periods as they are often better value. If you are seriously concerned about security it may be worth paying a premium for the Official Airport Parking facilities as they have recieved Park Mark Awards.
What is a Park Mark Award?
Certain parking facilities recieve awards based on the Park Mark Safer Parking Scheme criteria. The process involves a full screening of car parks by police officers. Car Parks are judged on how they abide by the risk assessment criteria based on active management and preventative measures. The aim of the scheme is to help to prevent or curb the risk of crime and promote client confidence in such facilities.
Is my car park insured against damages?
The insurance policies change between car parks. Usually car parks will not take responsibility unless it is a direct result of staff negligence. As a preventative measure, make sure to take all valuables out of your car on departure. If you do have an issue report it immediately, as most car parks will not take responsibility for claims reported after departure.
Are there special facilities for disabled passengers?
Most car parks cater for disabled users and all the Official Airport Car Parks have designated parking spaces for Blue Badge holders. All Shuttle buses should have disabled access ramps. Meet and Greet parking is ideal for disabled customers as there is no transfer to/from the terminal building. If you do have special requirements it is advisable to let the car parking operator know in advance.
What other services do car parks offer?
Some car parks will provide or outsource valet and repair services.
